I love Melbourne’s European influences and when I’m visiting I always try to get to Albert Park to enjoy a well made coffee and some cake. Albert Park is also home to The Avenue bookstore, where I can lose myself for hours, and The Wool Baa yarn store, where I disappear again for a few more hours. On a recent visit I was seduced by a few balls of Debbie Bliss’s Donegal Luxury Tweed Aran yarn. I guess it was the cold and the grey that convinced me to buy a thick and warm yarn like this -I live in the subtropics so the chances of me ever knitting with it are slim.
But Mother Nature favoured me and this Summer in Brisbane was wet and grey. And so my A Handsomely Tweedy Hat was born. I’ve made it in three colour ways now – and even sold one to a lady in Finland. I can’t wait for Winter to try a few more.
The knitting pattern is available to purchase on Etsy as a PDF. As a bonus you will receive the pattern for my Get Regal! cross stitched cushion.
